Quilting Retreat

My Dear Jane group met at Highland Lake Lodge in East Texas this past weekend. It was a lovely weekend, but most of the time was spent sewing away.

I am working on a quilt for our king size bed. Keeping in mind that the walls are chocolate and the curtains are green,I was able to select 18 different fabrics for the quilt from the Quilt Asylum. The pattern is called Hip to be Square. The focus fabric that all the other fabrics are related to is a Kaffe Fassett. I had to add extra squares and a border to get the quilt up to a king size. While at the retreat I finished the blocks. Thank goodness there was a design wall big enough to arrange the blocks in rows as there is no pattern for this. I was able to sew the blocks into rows. I really like the pattern and would like to try it again.

One Knee Down and One to Go

Well the surgery on my right knee went very well. I was up and walking around the next day. The relief was immediate, which was an unexpected bonus. It had gotten difficult to walk, especially on a rolling cruise ship. Surgery on the left knee is June 2nd. With any luck I will be back playing tennis by the end of July. I am hoping to get in a few rounds of disc golf this long weekend.

Happy Memorial Day!
